Young eco-entrepreneurs are being given the chance to realise their environmental ambitions thanks to a second round of Eco Grants for Schools from Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).

The Greater Manchester Eco Grants for Schools programme is all about empowering schools to develop climate action projects that benefit both the school environment and the wider community.

We’re looking for projects that inspire small acts of positive climate action and sustainable behaviour change focused on:

  • Waste Reduction and Circular Economy – Fashion, Textiles and Plastics
  • Education on Sustainable Lifestyles through Key Life Skills
  • Sustainable Food and Tackling Food Waste

The grants will help school pupils bring their eco ideas to life, reducing waste, developing skills, and increasing understanding of how making small changes can really help the environment. School groups will be able to trial and deliver sustainable lifestyle school projects over the course of a year, enriching their curriculum and giving pupils the opportunity to work through the many stages of delivering a tangible, local project they can be proud of.

Project applications should promote living more sustainably within the school environment and beyond, either at home, with local businesses or within the local community. Additionally, they can demonstrate wider benefits including Health and wellbeing; Increasing skills and building confidence; and community engagement.

Applications for funding open to schools at noon on Monday 3rd November 2025. The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 19th December 2025, or until we receive 50 eligible applications Find out more and apply here: https://gmgreencity.com/eco-grants-for-schools/
